Isaac Huang
My name is Isaac Huang, and I am from Troop 396 from Brownsburg and recently completed the Fall 2023 NYLT course where I learned many useful skills and tools to help me become a better leader not only in my Troop but in school and life, too.
A few key skills I learned were effective communication, the stages of team development, and creating SMART goals. Not only did the course teach us these skills but it also allowed us to practice them while having a great time with other Scouts.
Since completing NYLT, I have been applying my new leadership skills with my Troop. I am very grateful for the scholarship that I received from the Carson Thomas NYLT Sponsorship Fund because it supported me going to NYLT where I learned important skills that I will use for the rest of my life

At NYLT I had some great new experiences that were once in a lifetime opportunity that I had the pleasure of going to NYLT this course. I have so much from my two weekends there and I hope that with my training at NYLT it will help my Troop grow as we walk into a new chapter for our Troop. One thing that I have taken out of this is that its important to know who you’re speaking to. Thanks so much for this experience. -Gran
Zane Hake
I am Zane Hake, a scout at Troop 396. I truly appreciated the opportunity to attend, learn, and grow in so many ways through the NYLT program. Concepts like team building, goal setting, and the importance of good communication have proven invaluable as I continue participating in Scouts and Robotics.
Overall, the training was a meaningful experience that has set me on a path to becoming a better future leader. I am grateful to have received the Carson Thomas NYLT Scholarship. I look forward to continuing to apply what I learned and continue to grow in scouts and leadership.

Thank you so much for awarding me with a scholarship from the Carson Thomas NYLT Fund. I am so appreciative of this recognition because this award helps remember a fellow scout that has led others on their journey. This award will help me advance my leadership skills in not just Scouts America but in daily life. This will help me in my troops’ next elections as I try to run for Senior Patrol Leader. I am looking forward to the adventures of NYLT and the skills I will gain to grow as person and scout.
Finally, I hope that with NYLT under my belt it will push me to finish my Eagle project and my remaining merit badge; by teaching me even more responsibility and dedication.
Thank you again for helping me along this amazing adventure.
